The Beebe News has been publishing continuously since around 1935. Ellis Ramsey Sr. owned the newspaper along with the Bald Knob Banner until 1968. In June of 1968, Robert and Naomi Kemp purchased the newspaper. The Kemp’s were from No.Little Rock. Robert Kemp was news director at KARK Channel 4 in Little Rock for over 25-years. When he and his wife bought The Beebe News and Bald Knob Banner, it fulfilled a life-long dream of his to own a weekly newspaper. The Kemps sold The Bald Knob Banner in 1971. In August of 1990, Robert and Naomi Kemp sold their newspaper to their daughter, Lee Kemp McLane. Lee is one of the very few female Editor/Publishers in the state of Arkansas. Lee McLane is still the current Editor/Publisher.
