Feb. 2, 1936 – March 12, 2021 Merced, California – Bob was born February 2, 1936 in Beebe, Arkansas to J.L. and Lottie Hefner. He was educated in his elementary and middle school years in Beebe. In his senior year of high school his family moved to Planada, CA where he graduated from Le Grand High School in 1953. Two years following high school, he joined the U.S. Navy where he traveled abroad to Japan and the Philippines several times. Bob met his future wife, Marilyn (Midge) Page of Coalinga, CA. They were married August 18, 1958 in Honolulu, Hawaii where they resided for 6 months. After the Navy, he and Midge moved to Merced, CA. Bob’s first job was at Foremost Milk Company in Merced. After several years at Foremost he moved to Coca Cola Bottling Company in Fresno. He entered into the Air and Refrigeration business here in Merced and established Bob’s Refrigeration in 1964. Bob is survived by his wife of 63 years, Midge, daughter Kimberlee, son Robert Stephen, as well as 5 grandchildren, Amanda, Aubrey, Paige, Tanner and Austin. Bob was an avid horseman and had many horses over the years. His favorite horse was a mustang named Bo, who is now riding all over Heaven. Bob spent many years at Merced Horseman’s Association and participated in many of their events. He was also involved in junior football and Go Carting. Bob and Midge traveled several times throughout the United States in their motorhome and traveled throughout Europe in 1982. They were both members of Gateway Community Church. Bob died peacefully at his home in Merced surrounded by his family. Services were held at Gateway Community Church on Saturday, April 10, 2021 at 11 a.m. We would like to thank Koehn Home Care, especially Jaylyn, Kathleen, Annette and Ashlee for their continued support and prayers.
