Sheila Kemp, of Mason, passed away on Monday, January 13, at the age of 70 after a short illness. She was born on August 17, 1949 in Mobile, Alabama to Fred A. Harrell and Aline Ervin Harrell. Her father was in the Air Force so they moved around a lot as she was growing up, living in Panama and France among other places. After her dad retired from the Air Force they settled in Bebe, Arkansas where the family had deep roots. Living in the country, Sheila developed a great love for animals, having dogs, cats, parrots, chickens and horses for pets. Sheila met and fell in love and married Larry Kemp. They made their home in Austin and then in Leander, Texas. Their marriage was blessed with two children Joshua and Heather. In Leander they were active members of the First Baptist Church. After Larry retired about 10 years ago they moved to the country outside of Mason, Texas. While they were in Mason, Sheila and Larry took on the responsibility of raising their grandsons Elijah and Shiloh. In Mason they were very active in River of Life church and enjoyed supporting their grandchildren with their school activities. The last year was hard for Sheila as Larry passed away in January and this was followed a few months later by the death of daughter Heather. Sheila is survived by her son Joshua Kemp and wife Amy Branacky of Austin and grandsons Elijah Dickinson and fiance’ Brandye Johnson of Arlington and Shiloh Dickinson of Mason. She was preceded in death by her husband Larry Kemp, a daughter Heather Kemp and her brother Joseph. Visitation with the family was held Friday, January 17, 2020 from 1 to 2 p.m. at River of Life church. The funeral service followed at 2 p.m. River of Life. Interment took place on Monday, January 20, at 1:00 p.m. at the Lebanon Cemetery in McRae, Arkansas. Condolences may be sent to the family on-line at masonfuneralhome.net.
