Recent Arrests by the Beebe Special Investigations Unit

Mayor Mike Robertson released the following information regarding recent arrests made by the Beebe Police Department’s Special Investigations Unit (SIU). On August 25, 2017, members of the Special Investigation Unit and Detectives from the Beebe Police Department arrested Marlin C. Roberts Jr (48).  During the months of July and August, officers conducted an undercover investigation on Roberts and purchased, from him, a large number of Hydrocodone pills with a street value of over a $1000.  On the night he was arrested, Roberts had brought a 9 year old juvenile along with him.  The juvenile was in close proximity during the drug transaction.  Marlin C. Roberts Jr., who identified himself as a Special Investigator with the Arkansas Department of Human Services, was arrested for two counts of Delivery of More Than 28g but Less Than 200g of Hydrocodone a class A felony, one count of Delivery of More Than 2g but Less Than 28g of Hydrocodone a class B felony, one count of Endangering the Welfare of a Minor a class D felony and one count of The Use of a Communication Device a class C felony.    On August 27, 2017, Austin Ceal (19) reported that two subjects, one of which was armed with a handgun, entered his residence and attempted to rob him.  Ceal reported that the subjects were not successful in stealing any items or money from him, but they both attacked him.  Ceal reported that he had to go to the hospital due to the seriousness of the attack.  During the course of the investigation Detectives came to suspect that the incident occurred over a bad drug deal.  On Thursday, September 7, 2017, members of the Special Investigation Unit obtained and executed a search warrant at the residence of Austin Ceal.  Officers discovered two sets of digital scales with suspected marijuana residue, a box containing zip bags and two bags containing a felony amount of marijuana located in CEAL’s bedroom.  The marijuana weighed approximately 15.7 grams.  Ceal’s residence is located approximately 450 feet from a Church.  Austin Ceal was arrested and charged with Possession of schedule VI with the purpose to deliver a class D felony, Possession of drug paraphernalia with the purpose to weigh/package marijuana a class D felony and maintaining a drug premises within 1,000 feet of a certified drug free zone a class B felony.
