Beebe Special Drug Investigation Unit Arrests and Sentencing

On January 1, 2017, Beebe Mayor Mike Robertson instructed Chief Wayne Ballew to create a Special Investigation Unit. The Special Investigation Unit will be used primarily as a task force to investigate and combat the growing drug problem within the City of Beebe. Mayor Robertson has instructed the detectives assigned to the Special Investigation Unit to work closely with the citizens of Beebe and make every effort to have the drug dealers and users investigated, arrested and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. The Beebe Police Department is currently making arrangements to obtain a special phone line for the public to use report suspected drug activity. For now, all tips can be called into the Beebe Police Department Dispatch Center at 501-882-3365. Mayor Mike Robertson released the following information about recent arrests made by the Special Investigation Unit and the Beebe Police Department Patrol Division. On April 28, 2017, the Special Investigations Unit executed a Search Warrant at an address on Glen Lee Drive in Beebe, AR. SIU detectives filed numerous affidavits for warrant of arrests due to evidence obtained during the search warrant execution. On June 23, 2017, Bench Warrant 15073 was issued from the White County Circuit Court charging Brandon Donovan, 27 of Little Rock with Possession of drug paraphernalia with purpose to inhale methamphetamine (D Felony). On June 12, 2017, Officer Blake Rogers stopped to assist a stranded motorist on Highway 31 in Beebe, AR. During the course of the stop it was determined that Kevin Ramsey, 52 of Beebe was intoxicated. Officer Rogers subsequently located a small amount of Methamphetamine in Ramsey’s pocket. On June 12, 2017, SIU detectives completed an affidavit for warrant of arrest requesting a warrant to be issued for Ramsey for Possession of less than two grams of Methamphetamine. On July 6, 2017, Bench Warrant 15084 was issued from the White County Circuit Court charging Ramsey with Possession of less than two grams of methamphetamine (D Felony). On May 20, 2017 SIU detectives observed a suspicious vehicle on Lloyd Henderson Road in Beebe, AR. The detective requested that Officer Bradley West conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle. During the course of the traffic stop Tommy Weeks was arrested for Felony charge of Possession of less than two grams of Methamphetamine and Possession of drug paraphernalia with purpose to inject Methamphetamine. On July 6, 2017, Bench Warrant 15091 was issued from the White County Circuit Court charging Weeks with Possession of less than two grams of methamphetamine (D Felony). On May 3, 2017, Austin Strackbein, 20 of Beebe appeared in the White County Circuit Court. Strackbein pled guilty to the felony charges of Delivery of a schedule II controlled substance, Use of a Communication Facility and Delivery of a schedule IV controlled substance. On January 29, 2017, Beebe Police Officers responded to a burglary alarm at Jordon’s Kwik Stop in Beebe, AR. During the investigation Charley Ried Jr, 30 of Beebe was developed as a suspect. On January 31, 2017, Ried was taken into custody and charged with the Felony charge of Commercial Burglary and the Misdemeanor charge of Theft of property. On May 3, 2017, Ried appeared in the White County Circuit Court and pled guilty to Commercial Burglary and Theft of property. Ried was sentenced to 60 months of probation. On May 2, 2016, Beebe Police Officers responded to the report of physical altercation. During the course of the investigation it was determined that Chester Waters Jr, 36 of Beebe struck the 28 year old victim in the face. Waters was arrested for the felony charge of Battery in the second degree. On May 3, 2017, Waters appeared in the White County Circuit Court. Waters pled guilty to the charge of Battery in the second degree. Waters was sentenced to 72 months of probation. On Sunday, May 14, 2017, Beebe Police Officers responded to a report of an armed robbery at Jordon’s Kwik Stop in Beebe, AR. During the course of the investigation Joseph Dewayne Hayes, 20 was developed as a suspect. Detective Misty Goss submitted an affidavit for warrant for the arrest of Hayes on June 14, 2017. On July 6, 2017, Bench Warrant 013478 was issued from the White County Circuit Court charging Hayes with Aggravated Robbery (Y Felony) and Theft of property (D Felony).
