What’s Left?

This past week many of our Beebe residents paid their final respects to Pfc. Robert Mitchell – MIA Korean War veteran. Mitchell’s body was flown into Little Rock and an escort of police, Patriot Guard riders and military brought him to Beebe where Dewitt Henry Drive was lined with people waving American flags and paying their respect for the fallen soldier. The funeral was held Saturday with full military honors and was attended by family, friends, Patriot Guard members and local citizens. It was a somber, yet, inspiring service as you observed, as Chaplain (Maj) Matthew Atkins described the detail and respect the military displays in bringing the remains of these soldiers back to their homes. There is an article on the front page this week describing the process of identifying the remains of these MIA’s. It is quite complex. We are so thankful to have this Garner native back home. The Beebe City Pool is open for business. I hope you get a chance to enjoy it this summer! Go to your happy place! See you next week!
