What’s Left?

First of all - I’d like to thank the Beebe Police for quickly responding to my call(s) on Tuesday. They came out twice as our alarm service was telling us we had an intruder. Didn’t find one but me, Smith & Wesson and my doberman pincher’s Killer and Cujo are on the look-out. It’s always nice when you have big dogs inside your home. No one can get too far...not to mention my killer cats! So beware. It never fails in my life that “things” happen on Tuesday - the day I am super busy and super stressed - usually. But I am thankful that there was no actual damage done at the house. You know, you just have to be proactive, in my opinion. That is, lock your doors, have an alarm system, big dogs, guns, tasers, pepper spray, etc. I’m not paranoid - just want to be prepared - just in case. Can you believe this crazy weather? I really don’t know the actual stats, but this summer has got to be a record setter as far as number of days when the temps have reached 100 or above. We had a couple of days respite but now it is getting hot again (which means that the humidity level has gone back up). But, like they say, “everyone talks about the weather but no one does anything about it.” It’s just fun to gripe about it. Right? OK - kids. Your summer is over. It’s back to school day (today). I know most of you are happy to get back in the groove and I know almost all your parents are thrilled that school is starting. Make some goals for your school year and then work out a plan to achieve those goals. You will be happy when you see how much you can achieve with just a little extra effort. Also - be nice to your teachers. They go through a lot on a daily basis. Way to go, teachers! I am shocked, flabergasted and in disbelief that the summer is actually over. Where did it go? It seems to me like it lasted about 3 weeks. I hate that. Of course, now that I don’t have any young children - or nieces - in school - the summer isn’t that much different for me - other than being exceedingly hot. But there I go again - talking about the weather. Sorry. My cats have had fun this past week playing with my mom’s dog as my mom had gone to Hawaii (or Hi waa yaa as I told her she had to say) for my niece’s wedding. They had a great wedding on the beach in Hawaii and they are all home now and doing well. I can’t wait to see the pictures. Anyway, while my mom was gone, her little dog, Lil, was just lost without her so I let her “play” with some of my cats. She tormented them - playing so rough - during the day while I was at work. But it was good for her and she didn’t hurt the cats. This morning, after my mom came home, Lil was just ecstatic. It was so fun to watch her reaction as my mom walked in the door. Lil looked at her, barked - because she wasn’t expecting her - then you could see the immediate recognition on her face as she tried to jump up in my mom’s arms. Now I love cats, but you’ve got to admit, no animal shows joy more than a dog when you come home. Lil is in “dog heaven” now that my mom is home to babysit her. No, Killer and Cujo don’t get into that. They just patrol and sharpen their teeth. Go to your happy place! See you next week.
