When you write a weekly column, you are constantly thinking about what you are going to write for the next column. As the week goes along, I think, “Wow, I really need to write about that this week.” Of course, if I don’t write down that idea at that moment, when I sit down to write my column - usually Tuesday night - but this week it is Wednesday morning - just before press time - my mind is blank. Now, what was I going to write about??? It is frustrating. I’m pretty sure I’ve always been this way but perhaps it is just because I am getting a little older and there are just not that many empty drawers in my head or maybe it is that some of those drawers have missing hardware??? I’m not sure and don’t want to spend much time thinking about it. After all, what can I do about it? Yes, I know what you are saying - “You could drink more Red Bull.”  Yes and that is a great idea. (For those of you who don’t know Red Bull - it’s got about the same amount of caffeine as two strong cups of coffee and some vitamins. It does make you more “alert” without the jitters. At least that is the way it affects me. But the more caffeine you drink on a regular basis - the more you need for the same result. So, I don’t drink Red Bull very often but if I am feeling pretty tired and know I have a detailed task to perform, I drink a Red Bull and it helps me.
On to other things. We have a new dog at our house. She is a little mix breed Chihuahua or Miniature Greyhound. She looks more like the Greyhound as she has long spindly legs. She is very cute and very smart but not house trained yet. We are working on that. She hasn’t decided if she is scared of the cats yet but the cats have decided they are scared of her - especially when she barks at them. She wants to play with them but a few of them still have claws so I am really not wanting them to “play.” Her name is Lil - after my late Aunt Lillian. I hope she lives up to her namesake and is sweet and easy to get along with. I suspect she will be.  We got the dog at the Beebe Animal Shelter. You need to check it out for a great addition to your family!
Hope to see you Saturday night at the City Hall - around 7:30 p.m. to hear Jason D. Williams and then see the fireworks!
Go to your happy place!

See you next week!
