Father’s Day is Sunday. I used to really love Father’s Day. I guess because, of course, I loved my dad. We would always make a special dinner (or he would say supper) for him. He was pretty easy to please - food wise - so that made it even more enjoyable. My dad was one of those people who, when asked what he wanted for a birthday, Christmas or Father’s Day, would say, “Oh, just get me a card - or just make me a card.” He never wanted you to spend any money on him. One reason was because in that respect, he was very hard to please because no matter what you spent, he would surmise that it was too much money for that gift. So, unless you gave him a shirt or tie and didn’t let him trick you into telling him how much it costs, you might as well just skip it and make him a card - or buy one. But all in all, Father’s Day was always a good day. My brother and sister and I have been very fortunate that we had a great dad and mom. I always say that because of that, we can’t ever use that as an excuse for not doing well.
I hope you and your family have a great Father’s Day! Even if your dad is not still with you, it’s good to stop and remember all the good times you had with him on that day.
On to another subject. It is still so tough to see the oil still leaking into the Gulf and who knows where else. Will it ever end? Can we go down there and scoop up some oil and use it in our vehicles?
Are you starting to make your July 4th plans? Well, don’t forget that the City of Beebe will be having fireworks on Saturday, July 3rd. They will have entertainment starting at around 6 p.m. (I’ll tell you exactly next week) and then fireworks at dark. It will be fun. This year you can enjoy fireworks here in the city on Saturday night then go to Little Rock and see them again on Sunday night, July 4th. That will be great - even though I believe our city’s fireworks are every bit as good as the one in Little Rock. If you haven’t attended this in the past - make plans to be there. It will be fun!
Go to your happy place!
See you next week!
