James Elvis (Jim) Pruitt

James Elvis (Jim) Pruitt, 58, of Antioch, Arkansas, was born to the late Edwin and Nell Pruitt, June 26, 1951.  He died April 17, 2010.  He served sixteen years in the U.S. Army as a Cavalry Scout and K-9 handler in military police.  Over the years he worked for Burlington Industries Textile division in Denton, North Carolina, as a deputy for Yell County Sheriff’s Office in Danville, Arkansas, as a sales clerk in sporting goods for Vass-Kapp Hardware in Galax, Virginia, and as a welder for Jacksonville Steel in Beebe.  He loved the road, driving an 18-wheeler the last four years until his death.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Larry and his granddaughter, Jessica Greier.  He is survived by his wife, Sandra; five daughters, DeAnna (Charles) Renneker of Beebe, Jamea (Devin) Ussery of Mt. Vernon, Roberta Pruitt of Humble, Texas, Mandy Ireland of Thomasville, North Carolina, Kylee Hewitt of Belleville; two stepsons, Robert Greier III of Salem, Ohio, and Christopher Woodall of Beebe; nine grandchildren, AudreAnna Renneker, April Renneker, Megan Ussery, Sabra Dalzall, Nicole Dalzall, Jassie Dalzall, Haley Ireland, Haiden Ireland and Tyler Woodall; a sister, Judy (Tommy) Welch of Beebe; and a sister-in-law, Joyce Corbin of Searcy.
A special thanks to Travis Healy, Jim’s best friend, who was with him through his illness and to the end.
Jim was dearly loved by his family and will be greatly missed by all.
A memorial service will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 24, 2010, at Antioch Church on Hwy. 31 North.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice Home Care, 106 South Spring Street, Searcy, AR  72143, or Medical Education and Research Institute, 44 South Cleveland, Memphis, TN  38104.
