Can you believe the snowfall we got?  I really can’t remember when we got this much snow in Beebe. I’m pretty sure we have but certainly not within the past 15-20 years.  We got 8-10 inches in Beebe. When we measured Tuesday morning, it was 8 inches but I believe it had already packed down some. And some places had drifts that were much deeper.  It was incredible watching those huge snowflakes Monday afternoon.  They were the size of golf balls.  Now, I really don’t think I’ve seen snowflakes that big before - anywhere.  It was really beautiful and the best part of it early Monday was that it wasn’t really sticking on the roads. But that changed by Monday afternoon and I could barely get up my driveway. Tuesday morning I had to hitch a ride in a 4-wheel drive - thanks, Charlotte!
Anyway, the Beebe School District has been closed for three days.  I know the kids are having fun as there are hundreds of snowmen all over town. This wet snow was perfect for making snowmen.  I started to go out and make a snowcat but I decided I didn’t want to get that cold.  The snow was all beautiful but I’m glad it’s on its way out. Although I know they have a little snow in the forecast for Thursday afternoon, they are saying it will be mostly in the south and won’t be that much. Let’s hope they are right.  This has been a really weird winter - so far.
I’m excited about the Winter Olympics beginning this Friday. It will be fun to watch our athletes compete in Vancouver, Canada.
Last weekend, I went to the community theater at Cabot. They were performing “The Nerd.”  I had a friend performing in it and wanted to see how it went.  Well, it was so funny. I really hadn’t expected it to be that funny but at one part I was almost crying I was laughing so hard.  The bad weather has their schedule kind of messed up but they are doing two more performances on Feb. 19th and 20th. See page 7 of this issue for the details.  I would recommend it. It is a dinner theater and the food was very good.  It’s a nice change of pace if your used to going to the movies or just staying home.  The actors were really very good.
I hope you’ve had a good week and enjoyed the snow!  Don’t forget to feed the birds and feed any stray animals around your house. It’s hard for them to find food in the snow.
Go to your happy place! (I think Beebe should change it’s slogan from “Your Dream Hometown” to “Your Happy Place.”)  What do you think?

See you next week!
