Senior High, Junior High Teams Set to Play in Holiday Tourneys

The Badger basketball teams are getting ready to play in their respective holiday tournaments starting next week.
The senior high teams will play on their home court when they host the First Security/Gillam Farms Holiday Tournament beginning on Dec. 28.
With both the boys and girls teams getting swept in recent games against Searcy, Vilonia and Cabot the Badgers will be looking to notch a win when they play their first round game. The girls will hit the floor first when they take on the Clarksville Lady Panthers, who play in the 4A 4 conference and the Badger boys will follow in the final game of the first round against Valley Springs. The Tigers are coming off a huge 58-14 win over Marshall last week and defeated Flippin 58-32 and Bergman 55-26 and played Shiloh Christian tough, losing 66-65 earlier in the season.
The other first round battles include White Hall verse Riverview, Carlisle verse Lonoke and Warren taking on Harding Academy in the boys bracket while Conway takes on Riverview, Carlisle battles Lonoke and Star City verse Harding Academy.
Games begin at 10 a.m. on Monday Dec. 28 and will take place every hour and a half. Second round games will be played on Tuesday beginning at 10 a.m as well. The final game on Tuesday begins at 7 p.m. The games on Wednesday will determine the winner of the tournament with the girls consolation game beginning at 4 p.m. and the boys consolation game beginning at 5 p.m.
The girls championship game begins at 7 p.m. and the final game of the tournament, the boys championship begins at 8 p.m.
The junior high teams will head to Cabot for the annual Cabot Christmas Classic beginning on Dec. 29.
The junior Lady Badgers won the Community Bank Classic earlier in the season and would like to add another tournament trophy to the mantle. The junior Lady Badgers remain undefeated and most recently defeated White Hall to extend their record to 9-0.
The first team to play in the Cabot tournament will be the junior high boys team, who will hit the hardwood at 10 a.m. on Tuesday Jan. 29 to face Benton. The junior Lady Badgers will take the court following the boys at 11:15 a.m. to play their first round game against Hot Springs Lakeside. The junior Badger boys team will battle Benton at 10 a.m.
The remaining teams in the girls bracket include Cabot North and South, Lonoke, Sacred Heart, Greene County Tech and Sheridan.
The championship games will be played on Dec. 31.
