Anthony Ballard, Jr., 35, of Beebe, has no memory of the actual accident in which he was involved last Monday morning, Nov. 23, but does remember waking up with First Responders around him and helping him. Ballard was a good Samaritan who had stopped along Hwy. 67/167 to help Harold Mourning, 72,  of Greers Ferry, who was stranded with his truck along the righthand shoulder of the roadway when a southbound car in the lefthand lane crossed two lanes and ran into both men who were standing outside Mr. Mourning’s truck. Sadly, Mr. Mourning passed away Wednesday night.  The driver of the vehicle which hit both pedestrians, Kennith Christian, 25, of Harrison, was treated at White County Medical Center and released.
In an interview Tuesday afternoon, Anthony Ballard said he was treated that day and released from White County Hospital but will have to go back and have more extensive tests on his shoulder and knee. He also received some injury to his head and additional abrasions to his body. “Overall, I am doing very well,” Anthony said. “I guess the good Lord just decided it wasn’t my time to go,” he said.  Ballard’s father is with the Antioch Volunteer Fire Department and was at the scene within minutes of the accident.
