What’s Left?Nov 5th, 2009 | By admin | Category: Opinion
Our church secretary, Glenda Long, retired last week after 13-plus years as our secretary at Beebe First United Methodist Church. She was the perfect secretary. I don’t mean that she did everything right - she was just so perfect in how she dealt with people. She made me laugh until I cried on numerous occasions. And she and I cried out of sadness on numerous occasions. We always had so much fun when the Methodist women went out to eat periodically. It was just so much fun because she was there. She was and is just, as Owen Wilson said in “You, Me and Dupree,” full of Glenda-ness. I am speaking of her in the past tense only because she retired from being our secretary - but she will still be around and be involved.
She promised. So, Glenda, just know that you are loved by all your fellow church members and will be missed immensely. But, after 13-plus years, you need a break and this will give you time to flower into the creative force that has always been trying to break loose! (Just kidding - you broke loose long ago!) I jokingly told her she needed to be my Society Editor….who knows she may be covering high society in Beebe in the near future…
Hope you had a fun Halloween or Harvest/Fall Festival! If you saw a “UFO” that night around Windwood or Knight’s - it was my son flying his radio-controlled airplane which has lights on it. It looked like a UFO…funny!
I hope you make it a great week! Go to your happy place.
See you next week! Enjoy the sunshine!!!!!!
