Key Club to Hold 5K Run/Walk Nov. 14th
Oct 29th, 2009 | By admin | Category: SportsThe Beebe High School Key Club, formerly CHAMPS, will hold a 5K run/walk on Saturday, November 14th. Key Club, a school-improvement, leadership organization for juniors and seniors, held its first 5K in December 1999 as a benefit for Erin Knight and raised $3400.00. The success of that event convinced the organization to make the race an annual fundraiser for local charities.
This year the race has special meaning because the proceeds will all go to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation in honor of Brayton Benton, son of Martie (Shook) Benton. Martie is a teacher at Beebe Elementary and is currently serving on the White County Cystic Fibrosis committee in charge of raising money to help with research efforts to find a cure for Cystic Fibrosis.
The race will begin in the high school stadium at 9 am and registration is from 8-9am. The cost is $15.00 and participants who pre-register by November 11 will receive a free t-shirt. Entry forms are available at the Beebe High School office or by email.
