The Beebe High School Key Club, formerly CHAMPS, will hold a 5K run/walk on Saturday, November 14th.  Key Club, a school-improvement, leadership organization for juniors and seniors, held its first 5K in December 1999 as a benefit for Erin Knight and raised $3400.00.  The success of that event convinced the organization to make the race an annual fundraiser for local charities.
This year the race has special meaning because the proceeds will all go to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation in honor of Brayton Benton, son of Martie (Shook) Benton.  Martie is a teacher at Beebe Elementary and is currently serving on the White County Cystic Fibrosis committee in charge of raising money to help with research efforts to find a cure for Cystic Fibrosis.
