Beebe Man Arrested on Drug Charges; Several Plead Guilty to Drug Charges in Circuit Court

Beebe Police Chief Wayne Ballew reported the arrest of Michael S. Evans, Jr., 31, of  West Mississippi Street in Beebe on August 31st, 2009.  Ballew related that parole officers requested assistance from the police department concerning a home visit to Evans residence.  Once inside the residence, the officer found drug paraphernalia in a bedroom of the home and he then requested assistance from Beebe Police Officers for help searching the premises.  Patrol Officer Derrick Warren, C.I.D. Captain Eddie Cullum and C.I.D. Investigator Misty Duke provided the assistance.  A small amount of suspected marijuana was located as was additional drug paraphernalia.  Investigator Duke arrested Evans for Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Maintaining a Drug Premise.  Evans was processed at the Beebe Police Department and then transported to the White County Detention Center in Beebe and incarcerated in lieu of a $50,000.00 bond.   Chief Ballew further reported that the following individuals have pled guilty in White County Circuit Court regarding narcotic charges accomplished by the Beebe P.D. Narcotics section.  They were identified as: Tony Joe Ward, 19, formally of S. Apple Street in Beebe, pled guilty to three (3) counts of Delivery of Methamphetamine and was sentenced to 180 months in the Arkansas Department of Corrections. Wayne Ivan Lemmons, 59, of Searcy pled guilty to Possession of Cocaine with intent to Deliver and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and was sentenced to 120 months in ADC.  Calvin LC Wise, Jr., 23, formerly of Beebe, pled guilty to delivery of methamphetamine, morphine and Conspiracy to Deliver Cocaine and was sentenced to 120 months in ADC and Lamont Lynn Offord, 25, of Terra Drive, Beebe pled guilty to 2 counts of Delivery of Cocaine and one count of Delivery of a Counterfeit Substance and was sentenced to 144 months ADC.  Chief Ballew said, “I guess some people (dealers) are slow to catch on to the fact that the Beebe Police Department is not going to allow illicit narcotics to be sold in this city.  Recently one drug violator told the Chief, “I knew this was going to happen.  You Beebe Cops are the ones my friends tried to warn me about.”
