What’s Left?May 27th, 2015 | By admin | Category: Opinion
I hope you had a good Memorial Day! I was thinking about our debt to all of the veterans that have passed and those that are still serving our country as I attended two services here in Beebe Monday. Of course, we think about those heroes who saw combat in various wars but I also think about the everyday veteran who sat at the typewriter or computer now, or the veteran who was a cook or a mechanic – no matter what job they had, at some point they signed their name on a form and agreed to serve this country in whatever capacity they were needed. That is a huge commitment and often life-giving sacrifice. We have a debt to all veterans for the jobs they have performed. And, along those lines, our Arkansas National Guardsmen also fall into that category. They do a job that is difficult but so necessary! It seems that more and more, we call on the National Guard to help out in times of local disasters. I remember when we had the tornado here on Jan. 21, 1999, the ANG came and helped out. I remember hearing the helicopters passing over during the days when we had a curfew. It was comforting to know they were here to watch over everything. A big “Thank you” to all veterans for your service!
Go to your happy place!
See you next week!
