Guilty Pleas in Circuit Court

Beebe Police Captain Eddie Cullum released the following information regarding recent guilty pleas to felony charges in the Circuit Court in Searcy. The individuals charged and final dispositions are :

Joel Christopher Boyd, 41, of Beebe entered guilty pleas on 8/5/2014 to the charges of “Possession of methamphetamine” and “Possession of meth paraphernalia-to inhale meth”. Boyd was arrested by Investigator Josh Middleton on 2/17/14 when he was found to be in possession of 0.3594 grams of meth, (valued at $30.00), and a meth smoking device. Boyd was sentenced to 60 months probation for the meth and 60 months probation for the smoking device with the time to run concurrent. He was also fined $1,000.00 in addition to cost of the court.

Daniel Scott Hayes, 23, of Cabot entered guilty pleas on 8/5/2014 to the charges of “Possession of methamphetamine for the purpose to deliver” and “Possession of drug paraphernalia to conceal meth”. Hayes was arrested by Officer Robert Puckett on 2/22/2014 and charged when he was found to be in possession of 5.30 grams of meth , (valued at $525.00) contained in two (2) packages. Hayes was sentenced to 60 months probation on each of the felony counts with time to run concurrent. He was also fined $1,500.00 in addition to cost of the court.

James Jermaine Payne, 34, of Beebe entered guilty pleas to numerous felony charges after the B.B.P.D. Narcotics section executed a search warrant at his residence on 02/28/2014. The charges were: “Possession of marijuana for the purpose to deliver” (84 months in Arkansas Department of Corrections “ADC”), “Conspiracy to possess methamphetamine for the purpose to deliver” (84 months ADC), “Maintaining a drug premises in a drug free zone” (84 months ADC), “Possession of paraphernalia to package marijuana” (72 months ADC), “Possession of drug paraphernalia to inject/inhale meth” (72 months ADC), “Theft by receiving-firearm” (72 months  ADC and “Felon in possession of a firearm” (72 months ADC. The sentencing time is to run concurrent. Approximately 40 grams of methamphetamine (valued at $4,000.00) and approximately 1.4 pounds of high grade marijuana (valued at $5,575.00)was seized during the search. In addition, Payne’s 2008 BMW sedan was seized and currently held by the B.B.P.D. Forfeiture action regarding the vehicle has commenced by the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney.
