El Paso Extension Homemakers Club Finishes Club Year with PicnicJul 16th, 2014 | By admin | Category: Community
The El Paso Extension Homemakers Club finished the club year with a bang by hosting the June picnic for members and guests as well as delivering 227 teaching dolls and 50 knitted hats to Arkansas Children’s Hospital. The total of donated teaching dolls for the club year was 320 teaching dolls and 147 hand knitted hats. During the picnic, guests were shown the Project Book “Our Children – Bless Them” which was judged at the State Meeting, and the club received scores of 100 from three different judges.
The club met July 14 to begin the new club year. This meeting was also a workshop with the group completing 40 teaching dolls. President Janet Blansett opened the meeting with an inspirational thought and roll call was answered with the group answering the question on what is their favorite salt substitute, and 564 volunteer hours were reported. New yearbooks were passed out and members selected dates to be hostess etc. It was decided that meetings this year will also include a workshop time to work on projects for Children’s Hospital.
President Blansett presented a very educational lesson on “How to eat better with less fat, sodium and sugar.” A soup and sandwich lunch was provided by hostesses Janet Blansett, Judy Riley and Myrna Richardson. The next meeting is scheduled at 9:30 AM, August 11, at El Paso First Baptist Church Fellowship Hall. Anyone in the community is invited to join.
