NORTH LITTLE ROCK – To raise awareness about cancer, the International Council of Corvette Clubs (ICCC) is hosting Road Rally for a Cure on Friday, July 18, 2014, at 10 a.m. at Dickey-Stephens Park, 400 W. Broadway Street, in North Little Rock.

“The road rally is a fun way for convention attendees to get to know the host city. This year we wanted to rally around something beyond ourselves,” said Billy Brooks, convention coordinator and member of Capitol City Corvette Club, the local Little Rock chapter. “Cancer affects so many families in our organization and continues to be one of the leading causes of death in our group.”

The road rally begins at 9 a.m. at the Wyndham Riverfront Hotel and ends at Dickey-Stephens Park at 10 a.m. Rosa Barker and Larry Clayton, both cancer survivors from ICCC, will speak about cancer awareness and everyone will be wearing pink.

The road rally is part of the weeklong convention, which includes two car shows open to the public on Saturday, July 19, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Corvette fans can check out hundreds of cars from ICCC and the local chapter, Capitol City Corvette Club, for free at U.S. Bank, 1 Riverfront Place, and the Wyndham Riverfront Hotel in North Little Rock.

“North Little Rock was chosen to host this year’s convention based on the Little Rock chapter’s bid,” Brooks said. “The hospitality and warmness the council experienced in their site visit, along with the many attractions and excitement, caused them to not only choose North Little Rock but to spend an entire week here.”

The ICCC 28th Annual Convention is hosted by the Wyndham Riverfront Hotel and occurs July 13, 2014 – July 20, 2014. Convention attendees will tour North Little Rock and Little Rock attractions, participate in a Day of Giving Back at Shorter College, and have fun with a Car Push and Gymkhana Motor Sport Race at Dickey-Stephens Park.
