John Douglass and his wife, Martha, are pictured above during the Softball Hall of Fame induction, Friday, July 4th, in Sherwood Sports Complex.

When contacted Monday, July 14, John Douglass said of his recent induction, “It was a real honor,” Douglass said. “I started playing softball in 1944 when I was 15 years old. When I started in the adult league when I was 65, the men and their wives went all over the U.S. playing softball but I’ve never met a softball player that wasn’t a real nice person. It has been a marvelous time over the years.”

Douglass said he played softball up until last year when his eyesight was getting weak. He will be 85 on July 20th. Happy Birthday, John! And Congratulations for being inducted into the Softball Hall of Fame!
