The Beebe City Council met Monday night for their regular monthly meeting - held one week early. Although there was not going to be a meeting at the regularly scheduled time Monday, June 23, due to some issues that recently arose, the mayor said that the council will meet Monday night, June 23, to take care of a couple of matters.
The council approved paving bids from the Rogers Group for $190,005.75. The streets to be paved will be: So. Cypress from Center to Main; W. Illinois from Center to Main; No. Apple from Mahoney to DeWitt Henry; McAfee Circle; Twin Lakes - several places and pave with a turning lane; Offspring; Duane from Dugger to back where the city paved last year.
The council approved a chip-sealing bid from 5-Star for $29,142. The streets which will be chip-sealed are: Apple Blossom; E. Georgia from Cedar to the end; Cedar St. from Idaho to Georgia.
Resolution 2014-01 was approved which allows the mayor to spend up to $20,000 for paving areas around the new stage at the city park.
Ordinance 2014-07 was approved which waives bids on a 2011 Chevy Tahoe with law enforcement equipment. The emergency clause was approved also.
