Congratulations to Natalie Pruitt and Matthew Lercher for being selected by the faculty as May students-of-the-month for Beebe High School 11-12.
Natalie Pruitt, a junior at Beebe High School, is the daughter of Eric and Rebecca Pruitt. She is the granddaughter of Dexter and Ellen Barnes of Beebe and Joyce and Bob Corbin of Searcy. Natalie is an honor roll student and participates in the AP program. She has played in the band since sixth grade. Natalie plans to graduate as an honor student and then attend college for a major in biology or chemistry with a minor in Spanish.
Matthew is a senior at BHS and is the son of Thomas and Margie Lercher and the grandson of Jim and Betty Lercher. He has one sister, Katie, a freshman at BHS. Matthew is an active participant in his school drama department, performing in the year’s productions “Homeless Harry” and “Fiddler on the Roof.” He is also a member of the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) where he has won several awards for competing in business-related events at the district and state level. He has served his community through volunteering and fundraising with Key Club. He attends St. James Catholic Church in Searcy where he has also volunteered his time. During the summer of 2013, Matthew attended the Arkansas Governor’s School at Hendrix College in Conway as a member of the social sciences department. He has won several awards including the AP Scholar Award for making qualifying scores on three AP tests, a Certificate of Achievement in Statistics from the Arkansas Council of Teachers in Mathematics, and a Silver Key in the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards 2013 Southwest Writing Region-at-Large for his flash fiction “Spring.” Matthew plans to attend college in the fall and has received the Arkansas Governor’s Distinguished Scholarship.
