May Events at Pinnacle Mountain State Park

Welcome to Pinnacle Mountain State Park! We invite you and your family to attend one of our regularly scheduled interpretive programs. All programs are FREE unless otherwise stated. Children 7-14 should ask at one of the programs on how to become a State Park Explorer

Friday, May 9

10 a.m. - 2 p.m., DISCOVERY DAYS FOR SCHOOLS. This event is designed especially for school field trips. Programs will be offered throughout the picnic area, to include hikes around the Kingfisher Trail, Native American history, animal programs, and viewing of native wildlife. Reservations are required. Teachers, contact the park for more details. Meeting place: Picnic Area. Admission: Free

Saturday, May 10

1 p.m. - 2:30 p.m., MOTHERS DAY LAKE CRUISES. Treat your Mom to a relaxing boat ride on beautiful, scenic Lake Maumelle near the base of Pinnacle Mountain. Park Interpreter Richard (richard.spilman@arkansas.gov) is your guide as we explore the nature and history of the area. Advance payment and registration is required. Contact the park for more information. Meeting place: Jolly Roger’s Marina

Admission: $15 adults, $8 children ages 6-12.

2 p.m. - 10 p.m., NATIONAL ASTRONOMY DAY. Discover astronomy with members of the Central Arkansas Astronomical Society. Activities include solar viewing in the afternoon, special indoor programs, and viewing through telescopes from 9-10 p.m. Clouds permitting, the evening’s telescopic sights include several planets, the moon and other celestial objects. This is a great family-friendly activity for all ages to experience! Meeting place: Visitor Center. Admission: Free

Sunday, May 11

Sunday, May 18

9 a.m. - 12 a.m., EAST SUMMIT CHALLENGE HIKE. Join interpreter Maryanne (maryanne.stansbury@arkansas.gov) for a challenging hike up the East side of the mountain, down the West Trail and around the Base Trail back to where we began.  Wear sturdy shoes and pack water for this strenuous 3 mile hike.  This is not a hike for the beginner hiker but for those more seasoned, wanting a good challenge! Meeting place: Ease Summit Trail Head. Admission: Free

7:30 p.m. - 9 p.m., SUNSET LAKE CRUISE. Experience the vibrant colors of the setting sun while cruising over the calm waters of Lake Maumelle near the base of Pinnacle Mountain. Park Interpreter Richard (richard.spilman@arkansas.gov) will serve as your pilot and guide on this boat tour. Dress in layers for cool evening temperatures. Advance payment and registration is required. Meeting place: Jolly Roger’s Marina
