March HIPPY Group MeetingApr 10th, 2014 | By admin | Category: Education
The HIPPY Program held its monthly group meeting on Monday March 10th at the First United Methodist Church of Beebe. The theme of the meeting was “a day in the forest with Smokey the Bear.” Children were treated to a story about Smokey the Bear presented by Mr. Kenny Coley of the White County Forestry Commission. As the children sat around a pretend campfire constructed of empty wrapping paper rolls for logs and red and yellow tissue paper for flames they enjoyed hot dogs and sang campfire songs. They learned the importance of fire safety. Smokey the Bear also made an appearance and took pictures with the children. The children made campfire cookies made from a sugar cookie with chocolate frosting, rock candies, pretzel sticks dipped in chocolate, with red and yellow colored coconut. The children made animal tracks using flour and straws. The children constructed owls and bears and they made posters all about their forestry/camping experience. HIPPY will have their final group meeting on May 9th at the Beebe baseball fields. We would like to thank the Methodist Church for allowing us to have our group meetings at their facility all year. Thanks to all the parents and children for attending. Ms. Susan, Ms. Kim, Ms. Mikki, and Ms. Sherry.
