Badgers Fall to Panthers in State TournamentMar 13th, 2014 | By admin | Category: Sports
Thursday, March 7th - The Badger boys basketball team faced off against the Clarksville Panthers in the first round of the State basketball tournament on Thursday, March 7th and although the Badgers held tough for three quarters of play, the Panthers size and strength finally slowed down the Badgers enough in the 4th quarter for them to take the lead and win the hard fought game, 57-45.
Clarksville used a strong second half to break open the game. The Badgers only trailed by 5 at halftime, 24-19 – but the Panthers outscored the Badgers 18-11 in the final stanza. The Badgers had 16 turnovers in the game, which sealed their fate – as the Panthers only committed 5.
Tanner Chapman had a game high 21 points and 7 rebounds – while Zach Baker chipped in 13 points. Both seniors played well in their final game in a Badger uniform – although Baker was still slowed by a foot injury, which had kept him out of several games near the end of the season. The Badgers ended the season with an 11-15 overall record and an 8-6 record in their final year in the 5A East Conference – as they will be moving to the 5A Central Conference next season – which will make it easier for local fans to attend away games. The Badger football team will begin play in the 5 A Central starting this season.
Congratulations Badgers basketball team for making it to the State Tournament four straight years!
