Former Beebe Banker, Garland Kirkpatrick, Dies in Texas

Garland Kirkpatrick and his wife, Wilma, moved to Beebe in 1981 where he was hired as president of a new bank that had been formed by 10-12 investors. The bank was First State Bank and opened April 28, 1981. The bank came under new ownership and the  name  was changed in 1994 to Charter State Bank.(The bank is now Regions).  Garland remained president until his retirement in December of 1997.

He was very active in many civic organizations and was a tireless promoter of Beebe.

He and Wilma moved to Texas  in November of 2010  to be close to their two daughters, Marilyn Lyden and  Carolyn Watkins.
