El Paso E.H. Club Holds Christmas PartyDec 26th, 2013 | By admin | Category: Community
The El Paso Extension Homemakers Club met Monday, December 16th in the beautifully decorated home of President Janet Blansett, who served as hostess for the annual Christmas brunch and party. After the meal, a short business meeting was held with members reporting 298 volunteer hours. The group then enjoyed many laughs while exchanging Christmas ornaments playing the “Dirty Santa” game. The devotional “Mary Did You Know” was given by Myrna Richardson taken from Luke 1:26 -27.
The El Paso Club is known for helping others and this Christmas season they brought non-perishable food items to help a family in the community, as well as donating to the “Christmas on the Square” event, and thanks to a “Secret Santa’s donation” they were also able to help with a monetary gift to an individual. The main project for the club is making items for Arkansas Children’s Hospital. Pictured at right are the results of three workshops held during the months of October and November. The group made 93 Teaching Dolls, 93 Christmas blankets, 135 Christmas pillows, 97 hand knitted hats, and put together 35 “parent care bags” consisting of tooth brushes, tooth paste, soap, shaving cream, razors, etc. This totals for this project are 713 volunteer hours and a value of $1,836. The Club meets the second Monday of each month at the El Paso First Baptist Church Fellowship Hall and anyone in the community is invited to attend.
