MORRILTON – Both Badger basketball teams competed in the weather shortened Morrilton basketball tournament between December 10th and December 13th.
In boy’s action, the Badgers played Pulaski Academy on Wednesday December 11th and lost by the score of 67-43. The Badgers committed 24 turnovers, which ultimately led to their loss. Zach Baker – who had 19 points and 13 rebounds, led the Badgers.
In the consolation game Thursday December 12th, the Badgers drew another tough team, Pottsville and fell short by the score of 53-39. Zach Baker led the Badgers once again with 17 points and 10 rebounds. Hunter Akins also had 8 points, in which Coach Marshall called his best game of the season.
The Badgers now stand at 2-3 overall for the season.
In girl’s action, the Lady Badgers faced Russellville on Tuesday, December 10th and came out on top 51-49 in overtime. The ladies were led by Kalela Miller with 18 points, Taylor McGraw with 15 points, Gracie Anders with 11 points and 18 rebounds and Ashlyn Johnson who ended up with 6 points and 3 rebounds.
In the girl’s consolation game Friday, December 13th, the Lady Badgers fell to Pulaski Academy 40-35. Kalela Miller led the ladies once again with 19 points and 9 rebounds, Gracie Anders had 7 points and 10 rebounds, Ashlyn Johnson had 5 points and 3 rebounds and Taylor McGraw had 3 points and 4 assists. Coach Richey stated that the deciding factors in the Lady Badger loss was their 24 turnovers and only shooting 7 of 17 from the free throw line.
The Lady Badgers now stand at 3-1 overall.
Both Badger teams will try and get back on the winning track in the White Hall Tournament this weekend December 20-21.
Again – both Badger teams will return home, to Badger Arena, for the Gilliam Farms Holiday Tournament December 27th through December 30th.
