What’s Left?

I hope that you got to experience our record-setting temperatures this past Sunday. I believe it got to about 83 here in Beebe. They say that it set a record in Little Rock which was set in 1965. That’s a long time ago. Now we have the new record set that very day.

Anyway - about that day. I went to church that morning and then worked around the house the rest of the day. Each time I went outside, I just thought, “this is the kind of day you thank God that you are still alive to enjoy.” It was just fabulous to have a day like that on Nov. 17th.  Makes me wonder what the rest of the month might hold - weather wise.  But in all my joy at the beautiful day - I realized Monday that there were terrible storms in several states with  six people killed. The weather can be so unpredictable and it seems that it has been extremely weird here lately. Weather in Arkansas has always been a little strange but the needle has swung way past normal for most of the U.S. But - all we can do is just try to roll with it - and talk about it. But it was a wonderful day and I’ll always remember it.

Can you believe that Thanksgiving is going to be here in a little over a week? Then it will be Christmas.

Back to Thanksgiving - if you don’t have anywhere to go or you just don’t want to fool with making lunch, please come to Thanksgiving lunch at Beebe First United Methodist Church. It will be great! Lots of great food and no fuss for you! Just come on over between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. The church is at 302 N. Main Street. There is no charge.

This is the first Thanksgiving that we are not going to my aunt’s house in Clinton. She and my cousins have put up with us for years and years and we so appreciate all the hard work and time they spent making great  Thanksgiving dinners for all of us! Thanks, Aunt Mary, and cousins Billie and Judy and Kim. Hope you have a great one this year! We will be thinking of you.

Go to your happy place.

See you next week.
