The Badger football team hosted the conference leading Batesville Pioneers on Friday night, November 8th at Bro. Erwin Stadium, Wooten Field, for the final home game of the 2013-2014 season, and fell short 45-14.
The Pioneers struck early and often with a balanced running and passing attack and the Badgers were never able to get within striking distance.
The Badgers amassed 234 total yards against the Pioneers, with 174 yards on the ground and 60 yards through the air. Trip Smith led the Badgers on the ground with 155 yards on 30 carries and Micah Dubose completed 1 of 4 passes for 60 yards and one touchdown. The Badgers had 2 penalties for 15 yards.
The Pioneers had 487 total yards – with 362 yards coming on the ground on 42 rushing attempts and 125 yards passing on 5 out of 9 completed passes The Pioneers were penalized 3 times for 30 yards.
The loss drops the Badgers regular season record to 5-5 (4-3 in 5-A East Conference play). The Badgers qualify for the playoffs again this year and will travel to Alma for a 1st round playoff game on this Friday night, November 15th at 7pm.
Congratulations to the Badgers for making the playoffs again this year and also to the Jr. High Badgers, who won their Conference title game on Tuesday, November 5th with a 30-8 victory over Searcy. The Jr Badgers finished the season with a 7-3 record. The team amassed 2,727 total offensive yards for the season with 2,666 yards on the ground and 61 yards through the air while scoring 38 touchdowns. Congratulations Jr Badgers on a great year!!
