September 7-14 is the week set for the 2013White County Fair to be held in Searcy at the White County Fairgrounds. There will be carnival rides, livestock shows featuring some of the best animals in the state, rodeos, pageants, educational booths and of course the horticulture exhibits. All White County residents or those attending school in the county are eligible to exhibit and compete for prize money and bragging rights for the year.
Everyone is encouraged to bring their home grown items to the White County Fair in September. Garden vegetables, fruits, field crops, hay, flowers, houseplants and floral arrangements can be entered in the horticulture exhibit building. Jams, jellies, quilts, baked goods, art, crafts and handmade sewn items are just a portion of what you can bring to the educational building for exhibit and competition.
There is still time to reserve your group’s educational booth. Call the Extension Service office at 501-268-5394 to reserve your space now. Rules and dates for events can be found on the fair’s website at www.whitecountyfairgrounds.org. All educational and horticultural exhibits may be entered on Sunday, September 8 from 1-3:00 p.m. or on Monday, September 9 from 8:00 – Noon.
