Well - it’s here! Football season! I know it means a lot to many of you - Razorbacks, Badgers and Pee Wee - just lots of things to do on the weekends! And there is supposed to be a drop in the temperatures of a degree or two. That will make it even nicer. I hope your first couple of weeks of school have gone well. It always took me at least that long to feel “OK” with going back to school - even in college. Just takes awhile to feel at home in new classes and with new teachers.
Today (Monday) we got lucky here in town and got a nice rain. Our rain gauge had been knocked over so I don’t really know how much we got but someone on Facebook said they got over an inch around Antioch. I bet we got that much here in town because it poured for several minutes - maybe an hour. Then it stopped and then it started up again as a slow drizzle for another 30 minutes.
Well - there is sure a lot going on in the international scene with the horrible atrocities that have gone on in Syria and now we (the U.S.) have to figure out how to respond to the use of chemical weapons on civilians by Assad. I think this is like finding out that your neighbor is beating his wife and no one else knows but you. You have a moral and ethical obligation to report it - but at the same time it may put you and your family in danger but it also may save the life of your neighbor’s wife. Many people just justify it by saying, “I just need to mind my own business.” But that is not what you should do if you have a conscious. It is not without risk - but it is the right thing to do. We may have some repercussions - but how can we go on and just ignore that we know a country is using chemical weapons against their own people? I really don’t think we have a choice but to respond in some manner. That is the big question - how to respond and what will be the reaction?
We will see how this plays out over the next couple of weeks.
So, on to other stuff. The Badgers will play their first home game this Friday night against Greenbrier. Go Badgers!
Go to your happy place.
See you next week!
