Beebe Police Chief Wayne Ballew reported the arrest of Dustin Taylor Caldwell, 20, of Beebe for Aggravated Robbery, Fleeing on Foot, and two counts of Theft of a Firearm.

At 10:55 a.m. on Saturday, August 24th, 2013, the police department received a call relating that a white male subject was being pursued on foot from the area of the Beebe Flea Market on Highway 367 after the man took a firearm from and vendor’s table and ran.

Officer Misty Goss was the first officer in the area and saw the suspect running north from the area of the Flea Market and into the field west of Wal-Mart. Officer Goss gave foot pursuit and ordered the suspect to stop but he continued to flee.  Caldwell was subsequently arrested by Investigator Josh Middleton in the driveway of Wal-Mart. Investigation revealed that Caldwell had been to the Flea Market earlier in the morning and was successful in the theft of a .22 caliber revolver from a vendor and had returned a second time to take a .32 caliber revolver.  The vendor and witnesses pursued Caldwell, caught up with him on Dogwood Street at which time Caldwell threw the weapon down and asked the vendor to “just let me go”.  When the vendor refused and walked toward Caldwell it was alleged that he removed a knife from his pocket and made swinging gestures at the vendor. He then proceeded to run north and was taken into custody.

Caldwell was taken to the Beebe Police Department and processed. He was then transported to the White County Detention Center in Searcy and held in lieu of a $15,000 bond.  An associate of Caldwell assisted the officers in the recovery of the .22 revolver first taken by Caldwell.
