Dover Bond Benford, Jr.

Dover Bond Benford, Jr., age 72, of Ward was born to Dover Bond Benford, Sr. and Eva Nell Newell on September 22, 1940.  He died August 16, 2013.

Dover was a very proud and devoted family man.  He enjoyed hunting and sports of any kind, especially watching the  St. Louis Cardinals play baseball.  After 31 years of service, Dover retired from Stone Container in Jacksonville.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Carolyn (Chism) Benford; four children, Sharon Whittle and husband, Scott of Hot Springs, Tammy Banks and husband, Sherman of Cabot, Brian Benford and wife, Ashley of Ward, Michelle Ward and husband, Rick of Ward; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a brother, Henry Denver Benford of Searcy.

Dover was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Eva Nell Cox.

Memorials may be made to Wade Knox Children’s Advocacy Center, Inc., 1835 SW Front Street, Lonoke 72086.  Dover cared deeply for all children.

Family  received friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at Westbrook Funeral Home, Beebe.  Funeral was 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 21, 2013, at Westbrook Funeral Home, with burial in Butlerville Cemetery.
