What’s Left?

I’m sorry I didn’t write anything about Father’s Day last week. Actually it slipped my mind that it was coming up on Sunday.  I hope all you dads out there had a great day!  I know sometimes it seems like Mother’s Day overshadows Father’s Day - and I guess it really does because most kids have a mother but lots of kids don’t have a father. And that is a shame. I don’t think a child can become a productive, well-rounded adult without the influence of a strong father figure. I believe that is so much of what is wrong with our society is that we don’t have fathers in the home or we don’t have a strong father-figure in a child’s life. If you are that - good for you! You deserve all the accolades of Father’s Day. If you are not - try to make efforts to become that which you were supposed to be when you became a father.

I can’t say that my dad was a strict disciplinarian - he pretty much let my mother do all the punishments. She says it’s because he didn’t want us to not like him. But he really wasn’t there much of the time during the day when it would have been necessary to discipline. Anyway - he was a good role model in that he rarely - if ever - missed a day of work and was a good Christian man.  I didn’t go visit his grave last Sunday because he really wouldn’t have wanted me to - even though I do on occasion. He died in 1991. It seems so long ago - and yet it seems like week before last.  We all miss him and think about him often. I know he is watching us from heaven. That is a comforting thought.  I hope you all had a great day last Sunday!

Go to your happy place!

See you next week!~
