Jun 20th, 2013 | By admin | Category: Entertainment

The Arkansas State University-Beebe Theater Department will present “Wiley and the Hairy Man” on Friday, June 28 and Saturday, June 29 at 7 p.m. at the Owen Center Theater.

“Wiley and the Hairy Man” was adapted by Jack Stokes, and is a southern folk fable intended for the entire family. As quoted from the publisher’s website, “Like Aesop’s fables, Wiley and the Hairy Man is drawn from native folk wisdom.  ‘Outwit the Hairy Man three times and he won’t scare you ever again,’ says Mammy. Trembling, Wiley sets out for the woods, prepared to confront the Hairy Man; he looks fear in the face and outwits it.”

Using the theatrical experience of music, light, dance and wonderful characters, the play transports the audience to the wild and wooly world of Wiley and the Hairy Man. This production is intended for all audiences and will be especially of interest to children.

Ticket prices are $10 for general admission; $5 for children, seniors, military and educators.

Groups of 10 or more may purchase tickets at the group rate of $2 per admission.   . All performances take place in the Owen Center Theater, located at 910 Pecan Street. Seating is unreserved and on a first-come basis.

ASU-Beebe offers an Associate of Fine Arts (AFA) degree with an emphasis in theater, which is a comprehensive, two-year conservatory-based curriculum designed specifically for transfer toward a bachelor’s degree in fine arts.
