Quapaw Area Council, Three Rivers District Cub Scout day camp was held at the Beebe City ball park June 10th – 14th.  The theme of the day camp was “Rodeo Daze”.  Cub scouts 1st- 5th grade enjoyed earning belt loops for archery, BB guns, flag football, kickball, geology, wildlife conservation, swimming, and bicycling. Scouts also worked on many different rank achievements and electives. One of the favorite events at day camp was the obstacle course which covers several rank achievements. This year the obstacle course included a hay maze that was changed often to keep the boys challenged. This year also brought some new events and guest. On Monday a petting zoo came to visit the camp and on Tuesday a Farrier showed the boys how to shape horse shoes. On the last day of camp, scouts could bring their bicycle for the bicycle rodeo. Lunch was provided on Thursday for the scouts and adult volunteers by VFW Post 10007 of Pleasant Plains, drinks were provided by 7-UP and Yarnell’s of Searcy donated 9 gallons of ice cream.

Day camp director Dana Cox said “there were 160 cub scouts attending the day camp”.  Scouts from packs in Pleasant Plains, Bradford, Cotton Plant, Searcy, Beebe, Carlisle, Judsonia, Lonoke, Cabot, England and Quitman were in attendance. The day camp also had 55 adult staff, walking leaders and 15 boy scouts all volunteering their time. It takes lots of help and resources to have the day camp.

The day camp director Dan Cox, program director Dana Linder, staff, scouts and Three Rivers District Executive Craig Poole would like to send a big thank you to the City of Beebe, the Park director Mr. Hatcher and the city pool staff for the use of the park and hospitality.

In all the scouts were provided with 28 hours of fun while learning many new skills and making new friends. Thank you to everyone who helped make it a successful day camp for the scouts!!
