What’s Left?

School is out for the summer - the heat is on - about 80+ today and things are as they should be for this end of May 2013. Isn’t it nice when things are as they should be?  I never realized when I was younger how important it was for things to be “as they should be.” But, as I am getting older - I really appreciate it when things are normal - as they should be. That doesn’t always come easy - especially with the weather here lately (past 12 months).  Anyway, I am happy that things seem to be as they usually are at this time of year.

I hope each of you has a great summer and a fun vacation - if you take one. As I’ve said before - one of the best things about a vacation, to me, is the planning phase. I hope many of you get to vacation here in Arkansas because we have so many things to see and do. There are so many places I haven’t been here in the state. I am not a great traveler because my cats make it nearly impossible for me to leave. Even if I had someone working with me each day with the cats - it would be difficult to leave them. There are so many of them with little quirks about what they eat and how they eat and who has to be away from whom before they can eat, sleep, etc. It gets incredibly complicated and I know most of you say, “Well, just let them work it out themselves” - and I do that to an extent but I have some old and feeble cats that get bullied and don’t get to eat as much wet food if I don’t protect them and keep the food hogs in another area doing mealtime. I have one little old cat that is about 20 - and I have been expecting him to die for a couple of years now. He is so frail but he has such a will to live and still eats and paces around that I just let him do whatever he wants for as long as he is able. His twin brother died a couple of years ago. This cat, Scooter (brother was Snooter), is a feisty little guy who will still bite me if I give him some medicine that he doesn’t want to take. So, he still has some spark to him. I really don’t like to have any animal put down unless they are in obvious pain, etc. So, I will just let Scooter do his thing until he can’t. But I have several cats with particular idiosyncrasies that would be hard to handle if you were not used to it.

Enough about my cats. I hope you have a great summer!

Go to your happy place!

See you next week!
