Two Union Pacific locomotives - one on each set of tracks - to derail along with 25 cars just south of Garner near Doyle Road around 2 p.m. Saturday afternoon, March 23rd. An engineer in one of the locomotives was injured but has been released from the hospital. The tracks were blocked for about a day and the Amtrak trains had to be re-routed - causing about a 3 hour delay for passengers.
The cargo on the derailed trains was not hazardous according to a spokesman for Union Pacific, Raquel Espinoza.
