Beebe Police Chief Wayne Ballew reported that a 2008 Chevrolet Silverado pickup was stolen from the parking area of the C & C Conoco convenience store located at 1104 W. Mississippi Street on Wednesday afternoon, Jan. 16th. The owner of the truck left it parked unattended outside of the store as he was working inside. The man noticed his truck had been taken by persons unknown at approximately 3:08 p.m.. The Chief said that the owner notified the police dispatcher of the theft at 3:18 p.m.. Captain Eddie Cullum and Investigator Josh Middleton responded to the station and made contact with the owner of the missing vehicle. The owner had established telephone contact with “On Star” and after Investigator Middleton spoke to the On Star representative confirming the incident a satellite vehicle track was granted. At 4::04 p.m., On Star contacted the police department and advised that the stolen truck was parked on Mountain Springs Road off State Highway 5 in Lonoke County. Captain Cullum and Investigator Middleton then departed Beebe enroute to the area given in a attempt to locate the pickup. As the officers approached the intersection of Hwy 5 and Mountain Springs Road they observed the stolen vehicle stopped at the stop sign on Mountain Springs Road. A white male was driving the truck and was waiting for traffic to clear to proceed onto Hwy 5. At 4:23 p.m., a traffic stop was accomplished at which time the driver was identified as: Jeffery Carl Dickerson, 29, of Austin, Arkansas. Dickerson was arrested for felony “Theft by Receiving” and transported back to the Beebe Police Department for processing. He was then taken to the White County Detention Center and incarcerated in lieu of a $7,500 bond. The vehicle was returned to the owner according to the Chief.
