What’s Left?Jan 24th, 2013 | By admin | Category: Opinion
Today (Monday) was a fun day! I got to work and watch the inauguration of Pres. Obama and all the pomp and circumstance that goes along with that. It is a tribute to our way of democracy that we all come together and celebrate the next term of the president. I loved the president’s inaugural address. Whether he is able to get much done in these next four years or not, he has a vision for what needs to be done and that it needs to be done by all of us “together” - as was the theme of the address - “togetherness.” Even though I didn’t attend the inauguration (obviously) it was a spectacle to watch and I loved it. Now, whether I would love it as much if I had been there personally, I don’t know. It would have been tough for me to go through all that I would have had to go through just to get there and be with all those people. They are estimating that there were at least 800,000 and possibly 1 million -much like there was four years ago. I believe that if we all - both Democrats and Republicans - come together these next four years - we can bring America to the heights that has held in the past. I, personally, am so proud to have been born an American - something I had nothing to do with - so I feel so fortunate that I am an American - a country that is the greatest in the world and has the most progressive thinkers, is spirtually close to God and is striving to help the less fortunate in ways we haven’t in the past. Yet, as Americans, we place much pressure on the individual to better themselves, to help others and to perform acts of volunteerism. I believe it is a moral duty we all have and it is one that is promoted by our country. To recognize the differences we have here in this country, you need to visit other countries or see how those from other countries respond to various situations - that is when you see how different we are and how we need to maintain and grow our high ideals. God bless America!
I hope you have had a good week. Go to your happy place!
See you next week!
