No Blackbird Problem This New Year’sJan 3rd, 2013 | By admin | Category: News and Features
The City of Beebe escaped state and national (and possibly international) news this year as no problems were reported with the blackbirds on New Year’s Eve. Apparently the ban on fireworks in the area closest to their roosting area helped keep New Year’s Eve a quiet one.
Perhaps this will be a lasting resolution regarding the fireworks ban to help keep any blackbird issues from arising in the future.
New Year’s Eve of 2011 saw several hundred blackbirds dead and the New Year’s Eve of 2010 saw thousands fall to their deaths - apparently related to the use of high-powered fireworks in the Windwood area.
