What’s Left?

Well, my unfounded prediction last week that “it looks like we won’t be having a white Christmas” was blown out of the water as we probably have the biggest snowfall ever - they’re saying the biggest in 80 years. So, all I have to do next year is to predict no snow and ta da - biggest snowfall.  Beebe residents awoke Wed. morning to over 10” of snow. That same amount was recorded in Little Rock and No. Little Rock - but the bad part to this is that about 180,000 people don’t have power.

I think the reason I said that last week was that we were having such a warm weather streak and they were saying - 7 days ago - that it was likely to continue. Anyway - just try to enjoy it - don’t travel if you don’t have to get out.

I had to go out this morning (Wed.) and brush the snow off my satellite dish. Luckily, the dish is mounted on a pole and not on the side of the house, so I could reach it. It had about 2” of snow on it but the big problem was that one of our 20’ crepe myrtle trees was bended over with the branches all over the dish. I kind of shook the branches a little and some of the snow came off so that the branches could rise above the dish. I count myself as extremely lucky to still have power and hope that it holds true for the rest of this weather episode.  I remember the back-to-back ice storms we had in 2000 which encompassed the Christmas holidays. It was terrible. I think we were out of power for 4 days or more. So, we have paid our dues - so to speak.

It’s about 6:30 a.m. Wed., morning and I’m going out in a few minutes and take snow pictures around our house and take an official measurement of the snow. I believe we have at least 10-inches.

So, you have survived the blizzard of Christmas 2012- an historic event.

I hope you had a great Christmas and the snow didn’t interrupt too many of your plans. Luckily, our family planned to just hang out on Christmas Day - we had our family Christmas the Sat. before.

Now is the time to work on those New Year’s resolutions so you can make it the best year ever!

Go to your happy place!

See you next year!!!!
