Beebe Elementary Kindness and Compassion Club

The Beebe Elementary Kindness and Compassion Club (KC Club) consists of ten students in the fourth grade.  The purpose of the club is to form a student leadership and peer-mediation council that can help students who are struggling.  The club members set the example for acts of kindness and compassion throughout our school.

The members meet at least twice a month with Beebe Elementary Counselor, Mrs. Melissa Brown.  The November topic was how they could raise money for the angel the club selected from the Angel Tree.  Students brainstormed ideas and decided on having a Candy Jar Contest for each classroom at Beebe Elementary.  The KC students bought and donated various types of candy and jars to school for Mrs. Brown to put together for all the classrooms.  Students passed out the jars and explained to students they could pay fifty cents to guess the amount of candy in their classroom jar.  The student with the closest estimation will win the jar of candy.  All money raised will go toward purchasing the Wish List of their “Special Angel.”  If anyone who would like to make a donation to the KC Club they can contact Mrs. Melissa Brown at Extension 1125.

Raising money for the Angel Tree is important but the message and lesson that we have to think beyond ourselves and care about people in difficult situations is more valuable for our students.  This is just the beginning of what the students can do to help in their school and community.
