The property on E. Illinois which was formerly B-Mart Garden Center is now just an empty lot which will soon be transformed into a new $750,000 Professional Development Center for Wilbur D.  Mills Co-op. The 7,000 sq. ft. building will be added to the other properties which the Co-op owns on Main Street, according to director Jeff Williams. “We needed the extra room to train teachers,” Williams stated in an interview Monday. “We train about 2,100 teachers each year.” Along with their other properties, the Co-op has made an investment of about $1.1 million dollars in downtown Beebe.  Pictured above: the old jail (just behind the tractor’s shovel) is a reminder of the past and is located on the southern side of the property which will soon be a new Professional Development Center for Wilbur Mills Co-op.
