In Beebe, local rain gauges showed that in a 3-day period, over 9 inches of rain fell. It was a welcome relief from the drought of the summer but did cause problems by soaking the ground and causing the high winds that came Saturday evening to fell trees throughout the area. Branches were lying on the ground all over town and several businesses and homes experienced roof damage. No injuries were reported. After the storm passed Saturday, the skies have been clear and the extreme temperatures have returned. Forecasters say that the 100-degree plus temperatures will be around for a few more days then at the end of the week, cooler temperatures and chances of rain are predicted.
