Well, can you believe it is just a few days until school starts? It begins August 20th - so you kids are on your last few days of summer! Hope you’re  having fun or just getting ready to go on vacation.

I was thinking last night about all the vacations I’ve taken - and that hasn’t been a whole lot - by normal standards.  Our family took only a few vacations while I was growing up because my dad worked all the time - and probably really didn’t like to go on vacation anyway. I’ve been on several vacations with just my mom and others and we’ve had lots of fun. I’ve never been on a vacation that lasted more than about 4 days - except - when I was a junior in high school (or the summer before) when I went with my aunt, uncle and cousin to Miami Beach for about 2 weeks. Wow - you talk about fun for a 14-15 year old! It was great. The hotel where we stayed had a recreation director and there were lots of teens there and we had a blast. Got to try to learn to surf and just had a great time. The rest of my vacations  primarily have been just getting away to the beach at Orange Beach (Gulf Shores). It’s a pretty quick drive and we just love it there. I have been to the Bahamas and it was lots of fun, too. But it felt to weird being out of the country. I just don’t like it. But half the fun of going on vacation is planning it. Looking online and trying to find the right place and the activities you want to do. It’s just a fun family thing to do and you can do it so much easier now than ever with the internet. You used to have to call and ask for brochures and maps and wait for them to come in the mail. Everything is so much faster now and it gives you more time to figure out all the details. You just have to remember that not all the stuff on the internet is 100% accurate. Do your homework.

Hope you have a great week! Remember to go swim free at the city pool - courtesy of First Security Bank on Tues., Aug. 7th.

Go to your happy place!

See you next week!
