What’s Left?Jul 4th, 2012 | By admin | Category: Opinion
This is a holiday week and it gets very confusing around here when we have to go to press a day early. I didn’t announce it in the paper last week because I kept thinking, “we might not be able to do that.” But, we are doing it and we will go to press on Monday night instead of Tuesday night. So you will be able to get this issue by noon on Tuesday around town and the regular Thursday mail delivery - because the 4th is on Wednesday this year. So…..
I hope you have a great 4th of July with your friends and family. I hope you have plans to come to City Hall and hear the entertainment and see the fireworks display! It will be a fun day with lots of food, music, games and the dedication of the Bill Nick Firemen’s Park starting at 5:30 p.m. Come out and enjoy an evening with your friends and neighbors. If you have friends or family that have come to your house - bring them on over to City Hall to enjoy the festivities.
This heat is unbelieveable, isn’t it? I guess the local preachers should be taking advantage of this in their sermons about hell - right? I have been making my cats come off the screened-in porch during the mid-day for the past several days because of the oppressive heat. They (the cats) will just stay out there with the fans blowing on them when they can go through the cat door into the air conditioning. The problem is that if I have a sick cat - they will invariably stay out in the heat when they should be inside and not being stressed. So, I have to do that for them. Overall, my animals are doing fine. I hope you are giving your outdoor animals extra water, a fan if possible and just keeping an eye on them. If you have an elderly neighbor - check on them and make sure they are OK. I think the weather forecast is for us to pretty much stay in the 100’s for the rest of this week. We’ll see after that.
If you have kids, you might want to go out to the city pool in the mornings and let them have some fun. The pool looks great this year and I hear the water is perfect!
Go to your happy place.
See you next week.
