It’s Monday night and I’m sitting here watching the Razorbacks play in the College World Series. It’s the 9th inning and South Carolina is up with a 23-game winning streak and they are behind tonight, 2-1. I sure hope that the Razorbacks send them packing. It’s one out right now. The second guy is up for S. Carolina. I’m not a normal sports watcher - so listening to the commentators is very interesting to me. Lots of terms I’ve never heard. OK- batter two just struck out and now we are at the game ending batter - possibly. Come on Razorbacks!!!!  Here we go, a left-hander (as I am - but I can’t bat left-handed). OK - two strikes now. One more, come on!!!!  Here we go - he hit it and then got put out on first base! Arkansas has won!!!! Yea!!!!!!  Arkansas advances and will play the winner of the S. Carolina and Kent State on Wed. night! Go Razorbacks!!!

Well - it’s now Tuesday and I’m in the final stretch to get the paper to the presses. Gee, wish I hadn’t stayed up so late last night. But maybe I’ll catch up tonight. I’ve heard you cannot catch up once you’ve lost sleep - but I beg to differ. I believe if you lose a night’s sleep, you just sleep an extra few hours for the next few days and you are  back to normal - unless you are a teenager  - and then you’re back to “normal” by the next day with no extra sleep. Ah, to be a teen again. No, really, I wouldn’t want that. Anyway, enjoy these long, hot days of summer - which is officially here Wednesday and is the longest day of the year.  I like it when it doesn’t get dark until nine or so at night. It seems to mess my dogs up though because they wake up around 3 a.m. and start barking at anything that moves - at least one of them does. I believe she will bark at the wind blowing a leaf on a tree. Anyway, she has been one reason I’ve lost some sleep in the past few nights - those 3 a.m. wake up calls. I need to go home during the day and wake her up around 3 p.m. because I know she is zonked out.

Anyway - hope you’re having a good summer. Go out and enjoy the city pool if you haven’t already! Make plans to attend the city’s 4th of July event - beginning at 5:30 p.m. across from city hall at the dedication of the Wm. “Bill” Nick Firefighters Park!

Go to your happy place! (One of mine: cats, kittens, and someone else to clean up after them - I just sit there and enjoy playing with them.)

See you next week!
